Eyes on the Prize
Computing prize money

According to an act of Congress dated April 23, 1800, the value of captured ships and cargo was divided among the officers and crew as listed in the table below. The act also specified that the U.S. government would get half the value if the captured vessel was of inferior force and that such prize money, as it was called, would be put in a fund for pensions and half pay for officers and seamen. Create (and solve) problems to challenge fellow students using this information
and the table below.
