Good Luck, Bad Luck
Writing about personal experience

Ask students if they think Commodore Bainbridge was unlucky at first and became lucky later. Or did he work hard to win? Have your students ever been lucky ... or unlucky, when everything seemed to go wrong. What happened and why? Did they do anything to help with their “luck”? Looking back on their experience, can they see any reasons for what happened? Ask them to share their experience with the class.
